I've been trying to setup GBPVR with a Hauppauge PVR 150MCE card and dishtv. I've never setup GBPVR with anything other than cable tv so I'm not sure if I'm hooking everything up right. I put the coax cable from the satellite to the input on the dish receiver. Then I sent a tv out coax cable from the back of the dish receiver to my PVR 150MCE card. For some reason it won't detect any channels this way. But when I remove the coax cable from the PVR150MCE card and plug it directly into the tv, the channels come up on the tv just fine.

So I tried connecting the dish receiver to my PVR 150MCE card with RCA cables (yellow, white, and red) instead of using the coax cable. It detects the channels that way, but when I try to change channels, the description changes but the actual channel doesn't change. So I don't know how to synchronize the GBPVR channel changer with the dish receiver so it will change the channels properly.

The important thing to remember is that when you're using dish, it'll only every be outputting one channel the receiver is currently set to.

When you connect to the set top box via coax, you'll find there is only one channel that has a video signal - usually channel 2 or channel 3. To support this in GB-PVR you have to set the input to 'fixed channel, external tuner' and enter the fixed channel number (2 or 3 usually).

Same deal with RCA cables, it'll only be able to receive the one channel the set top box is currently tuned to.

In this type of setup you typically need to add an IR Blaster to the setup so that GB-PVR can change channels on the set top box when it needs to. People typically use a USB-UIRT or MCE IR Blaster for this.
