Hey Guys,

Starting up the support thread for ComTweak v0.6

For more information check out the Plugin's wiki at: http://gbpvr.com/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Plugin/ComTweak

Is this plugin still in development? I'm looking forward to its release! It seems from the wiki that right now it is still a proof of concept and not a functioning product. Is that correct?

Thanks for your work on this!

Yes, the plugin is still in development. In fact I am nearing a new release which contains a new Windowed and Fullscreen media player. I am currently working on reading and writing the marked commercials to a Comskip style TXT file, which should be done fairly shortly since that particular part isn't all that complicated. Once I get the commercial marking features fully functional I will make another pre-release so that I can start getting feedback.

What I do expect to set me back quite some time is building the video progress bar. I have not even begun work on this component yet and I have a feeling it is going to be the hardest part of the entire project.

Also, anyone with any experience making media players or custom slider bar components, I'd like to pick your brain a bit as to how to go about making my video progress bar. My current idea was to use some sort of slider bar with two different colors on the slider's background, one indicating show and one indicating commercial.

I have also gotten some requests to extend the functionality of the ComTweak plugin to be a complete replacement for the Video Library Plugin which comes standard with GBPVR. I have been giving this some thought, and although I haven't made a definite decision, I can definetly see this as a possibility for the future. Anyone interested in a plugin of this nature, I would appreciate feature requests to start being made now so I have an idea of what people would like to see in the plugin before I start making promises about producing it.

Thanks for your support guys!

Glad to hear you are working on this. Unfortunately, I don't have programming skills to offer (other than a little web app development in ASP -- that's no help!).

Personally, I'm not interested in a replacement for the video library plugin. What I'm looking for is an easy way to adjust the commercials marked by comskip and then delete them from the file, so that I have a commercial-free mpg left. I record some shows for my young daughter and would like for them to play commercial-free. It's not a big deal for me to skip commercials in my shows, but I don't want them in her shows. (Yes, I know you can have GB-PVR autoskip the commercials, but this doesn't work as well as I'd like; that's why I see the need for ComTweak.)

Thanks for your work. I'll give the next version a try when you release it.

You don't need comtweak to remove commercials.
Use comskip to detect and mark commercials by creating the .txt file for the show, then use comclean, videoredo, or comclean2 (using a DOS mpg editor/encoder) to produce the "cleaned" mpg, then renamerecording(s) to finish up.
I've been doing this with comskip and videoredo for over a year now.
You can never have enough tuners!

ComTweak isn't for those of you who have been using Comskip and it has been working fine. I started the project because I never had time to properly configure Comskip, so it often has wrong markings, or markings that are slightly off. If Comskip is working well for you then I don't suggest you get ComTweak, since it would just be redundant.

Have you installed the GBPVR UI Elements Library? It is a requirement for the plugin to work, since I didn't build my own UI objects. I probably should have listed that in the install requirements on the wiki page.

If you have installed the GBPVR UI Elements, then when do you get this error? Are you able to load the plugin at all? Give me any information you think could help and we can go from there.
