I am trying to make my setup more stable and was wondering about the effects of running out of HD space.

I read on another post that if the drive fills up "It is game over". What does that mean exactly? Does GBPVR crash? I have my OS on a separate partition from all the GBPVR files.

If I create a separate partition for the live tv file will it mitigate the effects of it running out of space? What will happen when it does?

Can I still record if the live tv file has filled its partition but the recorded tv partition has space?

If the recorded tv partition is full but the live tv partition has space can I watch live tv on my MVP?

I dont test these scenarios, since there is no really nice outcome, so I cant give you details on what will happen. Just try not to run out of disk space Big Grin

No, it shouldnt do, but obviously your recordings arent going to be successful. In-progress recordings should just stop mid way through. New recordings will never manage to start. Windows might shit itself having 0 bytes of writable disk space.

If you are using a dedicated record drive, it just stops recording.
no biggie.

If everything is on the same partition - then what Sub said.

Somebody wrote a utility that will email you if your local drive/mapped drive/ partitions are getting too full (configurable as to what "too full" means)

well mine used crash as in the whole machine would die not just gbpvr
my way around it is i now use "videos" plugin which archives files to another drive after 5 days not exactly a fix more of a buffer (a 200Gb buffer though)
and lcd smartie tells me when im getting low on hard drive space
(You need a lcd screen for that though, but finally found a helpfull use for the one that came with the case )
