I couldn't find that mentioned anywhere so assumed (wrongly) that it didn't matter!! I never did manage to get the new version (1.0.08) working on the server PC and it messed it up big time with the result I had to reinstall v0.98.8b. Is there any likelihood that the old version will work with vista?

You've also got the machine name wrong. It's current set to 'JOHN2\' and should be 'JOHN2'.

I added the backslash hoping that might be the problem but obviously it wasn't!
Thanks anyway for the prompt reply.

Hi,

I have a similar problem. I have a server running XP with a Hauppauge HVR3000 card. The client is a toshiba laptop running vista. The server has been running for months with no problem and continues to do so. both are using version 1.0.0.16

I can watch recordings after the recording has finished, but not during. The TV Guide works most of the time when started by right clicking the taskbar icon but not from the start menu. The icon on the client indicates that the recording service is recording etc as it should. If i try to watch LiveTV the icon temporarily changes to green then goes back to white.

I have the configured it to run using file sharing for the moment obviously with no luck. The same seems to occur when streaming. I have disabled the firewalls etc as described earlier.

I would appreciate any advise. It'll be nice to use the laptop as a second TV.

Thanks

Paul

sharing doesnt really work very well with live tv
so if you want to keep trying use streaming
make sure firewall setting are all open to client
and make sure the client has the ability to change files on the server
also what mux are you using ?
make sure you have the live tv buffer file accessable from the client and any other files it may need access

This is a known limitation if you're recording .dvr-ms files. They cant be view while the recording is in progress from another machine.

You need to install and use a mux that recording .mpg files if you want to view the recordings while they are still recording. ie, the Cyberlink or ATI mux.
