I recently bought a NAS to store recorded shows. It is a SimpleTech STI-NAS/250. The folder for recorded shows is on a mapped drive in Windows. I did not have trouble mapping the drive. My computer, a laptop, and the NAS are all in the same workgroup and on the same network connected with a Linksys WRT55GL running hyperwrt_thibor firmware. Transferring, creating, deleting, and reading files on the NAS work just fine within Windows. I'm thinking that my problem is simply a permissions issue.

I did a search through the forums today and I did find a few semi-helpful posts, but nothing seemed to work for me. I tried setting gbpvrrecordingservice to run as a user instead of a system account, but that did not fix the issue. I even tried using the same user on Windows and the NAS (same name and p/w) and that failed also.

The NAS is set to allow user based or password based access. It is currently on password based, which is what it was on when I mapped the drive in Windows. Share authentication is disabled, and enabling it requires that I create a password. I never experimented with this.

GB-PVR records just fine to my local HD. If anyone needs log files, I would be happy to supply them. I did notice in a log file a few days ago that it had reported being unable to create [show name folder] on the mapped drive.

Thanks in advance!! Smile

I seem to recall reading that mapped drives don't work. You need to use the full UNC path instead. Something like \\NASname\folder
i3-3570k, 8GB RAM, Win10 Pro, Nvidia GT710, HDHomeRun (OTA), NPVR 6.x
On a clear disk, you can seek forever...

That worked! I don't know how I missed that in my searching, but I'm glad you didn't. Thanks much!
