GBPVR must be better that what I used to have.

I have migrated from a very unreliable ATI setup which used Gemstar as the
schedule provider. In Gemstar a screen would come up and display a grid of about 10 channels over about 4 hours to give me an instant overview of what is on this evening. I could scroll up or down the grid with ease and when I clicked on a show, there was a small TV window that instantly displayed the show if it was presently airing.

I discovered GBPVR and bought a Hauppage card and it seems to be quite stable which is nice but I miss a few things that the old setup provided.

I have downloaded and installed "community skin" hoping that it had a better schedule interface but I get the impression that there has to be more stuff installed.
I would like to
a) see a larger channel station grid,
B) see a live TV window,
C) be able to mark my favorite shows with some kind of icon so they stand out,
D) easily schedule record from the grid display,
E) Be warned if I am about to turn my computer off when something is recording,
F) be able to search for programs by name
G) Be able to skip from one day of the week to another without scrolling through them all.

If someone could direct me to plugins or other methods to get at least the first few of these features I would much appreciate it.

I am using PVRX2 on a windows XP SP2 desktop

Thanks

a) see a larger channel station grid,
What do you mean by larger, more channels or more time?

B) see a live TV window,
This was one of the things that got left behind after new UI, but I expect it will be back.

D) easily schedule record from the grid display
Try ctrl-r or 'record' on the r/c

F) be able to search for programs by name
On the TV Guide screen press 'Guide' on your r/c (or F1 on the keyboard) to get to the search screen.

G) Be able to skip from one day of the week to another without scrolling through them all.
Press ctrl-right. See here for more shortcuts.

B) GBPVR has never had that facility, you only see live TV if you are already watching live TV before going into the guide, and it doesn't switch channels as you go through the guide

E) Don't turn off your PC set it up for standby/hibernation

GBPVR is very reliable you win some and lose some when you switch from one system to another

If watching TV, the Home key will shrink it. It's limited as far as a picture-in-picture, but it's on the right track.

If the regular TV Guide won't do those other things, the "TV Listings" plugin should. Can mark shows with a "remind me" icon, can search, etc. Both are easy to record from to me. Recording could be simpler, but only if GBPVR had less recording options. I like options.

Failry sure SlimmGBPVR can do this for you...or at least delay shutdown until the show is finished.

from its page on the wiki:

Quote:# Prevents system session ending while recording so you cannot accidentally log off, restart or turn off your machine.

and
Quote:# Shutdown (hibernate, log off, restart, stand by or turn off) computer. If any recordings are currently active, the shutdown will occur when GB-PVR has finished its’ current recording session.

My Grid is only 8 channels high by 2 hours wide. It would be ideal to have more channels and more time showing on the screen. Is there a way to shrink the text?

This is a tremendous feature for those of us that like to channel surf. Too bad.
