Until I can find my old Xp disk I am stuck with Vista..PVRx2 works fine, but only when I run it from programfiles>devnz>gbpvr>pvrx2 ( I need to right click and hit run as administrater) If I try to start from tray I get a strange error 'attempted to divide by zero'..Is there a way to set it up so I am always the admin. for gbpvr? I realize this may be more of a vista issue, but hoping someone with a similar situation could lend a hand

Does it happen straight away, or just when you attempt to view video or live tv?

Right mouse click the exe.
Select "Properties".
"Compatibility" tab.
Under "Privilege Level", check "Run this program as administrator".

You can click "Show settings for all users" and do the same for a global setting.

Do yourself a favor and apply those settings to the RecordingService.exe and Config.exe as well.

I get that error when I try to access the tv guide, If I hit recordings, it displays the recordings page for a split second than returns. Live TV seems to hang up till vita sends me a message that pvr needs to be shut down

Whurlston....Did just that problem solved...thanks to you both!

you could try turning off that stupid setting for run as administrator - that might fix the issues you have.

from memory its in MSCONFIG - cant for the life of me remember what the name of it was.... sorry dont have vista at home so i cant be any more specific - dont like the thought of DRM crap microsoft put in it.....

from memory, try turning of UAC, I think its in control panel, Users, then at the bottom UAC settings or something like that and disable them, then it should`nt ask you to authorise everything and no need to be signed in as the admin.

Hope that helps, Once I get home from work, I`ll have a look on mine and let you know for sure.

I prefer UAC left on, and find it works quite well if gbpvr.db3 is set to be written by the PVRX2 users as sub has suggested. OK, it takes a bit more thought when you edit files manually but in the long run it will stop people from messing up their binary files.

People have wanted linux like stability in Windows for a while and now when it becomes a possibility I think people should at least attempt to work with it.

It's under tools in msconfig.
Funny, when I first started testing Vista, many of the guys from Redmond suggested we first disable UAC so that it didn't get in the way with testing. That said something to me right away.
