Recording/transcoding issues

Right i presume ive go the right list of decoders, which is the best out of
- ATI MPEG Video Decoder
- InterVideo nonCSS Video Decoder
- ffdshow MPEG-4 Decoder
- MPEG Video Decoder

Which would you most recommend? Thankyou.

Lost of people prefer different decoders because they work better with their videocard or their tv or their eyes. Its hard what your setup will be best suited to, so just try them all and see which works best for you.

Ah right ok. Think the last one is the best for me. Are there any major capability differences?

Ok so this has got rid of constant stuttering but every 6 seconds or so there is a more visible stutter as before

Nothing springs to mind, but try the forum search - questions about this sort of problem pop up from time to time, so I'm sure you'll find plenty of advice about things to try.

wait for vertical sync force that to always be on
maybe try changing refresh rate
