First off I would like to say that this is a great application. Hauppauge should promote GB-PVR instead of BTV, and definitly over their own software(WinTV2000).

Now for the Question.
I have noticed that the instance of GBPVR.exe that acts as the MVP server causes a CPU usage spike every 2 seconds while it is waiting for a connection(MVP off). Is this normal? Or can it be prevented?

I just tried here, and cant see any spikes. What speed CPU do you have, and how big is the CPU spike (5% - 100%)?

I had the same problem...
I was using the Hi Vis blue skin at the time.

Changed back to flat blue and the problem went away.
May have also had something to do with the "panels" that
were used in the Hi Vis theme, but is just a guess..

I have an Athlon 64 3000+. It spikes to 20%.

However I was using the high vis blue skin. Went back to the flat blue and the problem went away.

The problem is caused by the high vis skin's "Recording Soon" display on the main screen. When this changes it every 2 seconds to the next scheduled recording it causes the spike.

It does this on every instance of GBPVR that is running the high vis skin, both PC and MVP side.

To duplicate problem use the high vis skin and schedule more than one recording, then watch for the spikes.

I'd forgotten about this. Yes, a CPU spike is expected when you have this panel enabled.
