I was getting all sorts of problems when I would use FF/RW/Pause repeatedly (old GBPVR GUI - I only just started using the new GUI and don't know if the issue repeats there). I tried searching here a bunch but never saw a solution, and decided to just "deal with it" instead of posting for help  (yeah, I can be stupid sometimes). Anyway, I "figured it out" and thought I should post here in case anyone else out there ever has the same problem.
I first started noticing the issue when watching longer files, such as a recorded NFL game, probably because I was more likely to use these controls then - for example, jumping back to re-watch plays or jumping forward to skip commercials or pausing to run for snacks or whatever.
The commands would generally work as expected but, generally after an hour or so, the file would stop behaving as expected. I'd hit pause and it would jump forward 15 seconds one time or a minute another time. But after hitting pause like 6 or 7 times, it finally would pause (of course, now I'm a few minutes ahead). Or I'd hit jump forward and one time it would pause and refuse to play unless I jumped back to where I was jumping forward from, while another time it'd just make my video play at double-speed.
It was strange.
Then I started noticing it during shorter shows, and sometimes when I was just barely using the jump controls. Like, I'd record South Park and watch it, and try to jump past a commercial (before I added comskip.exe) and everything would go to hell. And yeah, live TV or already-recorded programs seemed to offer no differences.
I tried all the different modes with no success until I tried the full-screen exclusive mode. Everything worked perfectly in that mode. I don't know why any of this happened, and I know this isn't exactly a "solution" but anyway - that was the problem I was having and the way I "figured out" how to make it work. Like I said, I searched this forum a bit and didn't notice any similar posts, but since I had the issue maybe someone else out there is having it, too. I'm sharing this in case it could be helpful.
