Ah, my mistake. Since I can't get FIOS in my area, I wasn't aware of that but it makes sense now.

To continue the thought - it seems Verizon has sent letters to existing FIOS-tv customers prior to the conversion to all digital, offering them a free converter for their soon-to-be-impotent analog tvs, for as long as one is a resident at their current address.

I'm waiting with *my usual bad* breath for that letter to arrive, rather than call them and order another motorola dc??700 which is apparently what they've offered people in converted areas.

It all sounds too good to be true, I know, but it even sounds like the MOT*700 is sufficient to decode the encrypted channels, not just the 2-49 analog verizon series. I'll wait it out - and work on my IR blaster while I'm waiting.

I've got the IRBlaster working with my MOT DCT700 through WinTV. Biggest challenge was getting the cable close enough to the STB to register the signal.

Off to see what it now takes to integrate it with GBPVR.
