I got my PCH yesterday and got GBPVR on it in about 20 min of work - so excellent job so far to all that have worked on it so far.
When I add the network share from the PCH using the browse method, the mvpmc automatically gets added as an SMB share. Is this just the default in the PCH, is it something to do with my home network, or something to do with GBPVR/MVPMC (this I doubt...).
On reading further, I learn that SMB connections have poorer streaming performance due to high overhead, and that NFS or http streaming might be better.
How do I do this? - do I have to manually type nfs:desktop\mvpmc (something like that)?
How would I configure it as an http streaming?
I guess I could use the myIHome software that they provide, but I would really like to watch stuff through the GBPVR interface.

SMB is the technology used by Windows for doing its file sharing, so its normal to get an "SMB" share if you're connecting to a windows box.

Remember this mvpmc share is only used for initially running the mvpmcx2 client application. Once its started it uses HTTP for streaming video files to the PCH.

GB-PVR always uses HTTP for streaming to the PCH. The only exception is DVD playback, which uses a share of your choice - you can either use SMB shares, or install NFS server software on the PC and use NFS for the shares. DVD playback has worked fine for me over SMB shares.
