showing network name instead of call sign in guide

Hello.

Is there any way to show the network name (i.e FOX) in the TV guide instead of the call sign (i.e WJBK)

Better yet, the ability to change it to show both?

Is adding manual channels the only way?

You can edit the display name directly in the database, but there is no place in the app for doing this edit for you.

How can I go about doing this, or would you strongly suggest not to?
If it causes trouble when upgrading to newer versions etc, just say so and I won't

I'd backup your database, then try editing the display_name column in the CHANNEL table of the gbpvr.db3 database, using one of the various SQLite database utilities.
