issues with viewing channel that is in Preview window

Any idea why i would not be able to see the channel in live tV, but can see it in the little window in the scanning section

Or, the opposite problem... I cannot see *any* located qam channels in the preview window, it's always blank. Correctly shows mapped channels in Live TV and records off them just fine, however...

It's bugging me, as I thought I had this problem before too, and somehow fixed it.

Here are my logs, Channel 221 is the soccer HD channel, weird thing PVRX2 crashes when i try to watch it, but if i try to record it then i get a perfectly good recording, although its just a picture of the women soccer schedule

I have the same problem on channel 211 (both are NBC channels dont know if that has something to do with it), but i can record this channel as well no problem

After looking at your logs, the first thing you should try is setting your audio and video decoders to something other 'system default'.

Also see if it works any differently with the VMR9 renderer instead of overlay.

Ok i will try that, the last time i tied vrm9 things didnt go so well. I just deleted my 2 caputre sources and am doing rescans to see if i can get some better results.

Looks like you are right it is a decodor/renderer problem, but looks like unless i get a new video card i have to live with it, and as i plan on building a new system later down the road i think i will hold off, as i only use this machine for recordings, and very minimal playback

From 1.2.13 you should get an asterisk next to channels that are unencrypted in the scan results.

I wondered what that asterisk was supposed to mean. At least for me, the "unknown" channels are almost all encrypted, or at least refused to give any video or audio, regardless of the asterisk. For example, these two channels seem to be encrypted even though only one has an asterisk.

62.3 Unknown1* (000(AC3))
62.4 Unknown2 (000(AC3))

This is what the channels look like that are unencrypted but have no name:

88.3 (000(AC3))

I could only find one channel marked unknown that also produced video. I have lots of channels marked with an asterisk that do not show any video.

The local broadcast channels have real names.

most of my channels have the asterisk next to it as well and most of those are encypted, but i found the Olympic channels and they are unencrypted, i just have trouble viewing them in live tv, i checked this morning and i am currently recording all the womens soccer in HD, and its working beautifly, yay atleast the recording side works

I scanned with my TV and my HD tuner card HVR-1600. I did find some new 480i channels (shopping and a news channel) but no new HD sports or Olympics channels
