HI, I have an MCE 2005 beanbag dual blaster I am using with a 2450hdc STB. I have installed the
new mceir.sys driver
installed hip
learned and verified/blasted stb 0-9 buttons
installed hipsend
configure .exe hipblaster with '{channel} parameter in tuner source of gbpvr config
set up alternate input in hip to accept virtual ir signals from hipsend.

after some help I got everything working great opn my test machine. The test machine is an MCE SP 2 using ide drives. Channel changing is excellent. I moved the complete hip config files to the HTPC. This machine is an intel quad 4 xp sp3 machine. I am using raid and the system dirve is raid. If i try to simply bring up hip and go to i/0 ir commands and test a previously learned ir command nothing works. I hear a small beep when the blaster trys to send out the ir pulse to the STB. On test machine everything is fully functional on HTPC machine no blasting is possible. I have intalled MCEIR>SYS on the HTPC machine. Actually I have installed it 3 times. My navigation in gbpvr works perfect. Only the blasting to the STB has ceased to function. The test machine is about 6 years old and the htpc is 1 month old. The test machine uses ps2 mouse and plugin din keyboard, htpc uses usb for mouse and keyboard. I tried to redo all the ir learning on the htpc machine but was never able to learn any ir codes at all. Has any body experienced anything like this? Any thoughts appreciated.

Is your new box running XP Home? Home does not have the eHome IR drivers (MCE and Pro come with them), you need to get them from a Pro or MCE system. Here's a source: http://forums.gbpvr.com/showpost.php?p=2...ostcount=2. I'm not sure if you need these if you're running the mceir stuff...I don't use it.

HIP is running, right? Big Grin

Thanks for the reply. I am running xp pro on the HTPC. I just uninstalled SP3 and went back to sp2 like the test machine. Did not work. I installed a sepeate PCI card that has usb 2.0 and fire wire on the new machine and reintstalled the mceir.sys driver still no luck. The blaster part causes the new motherboard to very quietly beep. - strange. I was thinking about trying the original ms blaster program and see if I can get the STB to toggle on/off with out HIP. What do you think? This would atleast confirm that the blaster can work on the HTPC machine - Ted

I'm running XP Pro SP3 on an HP box with SATA drives. If the remote works OK, the USB connection is probably working...it's likely drivers or HIP config. Look in the Device Manager and see what you have under the Human Interface Devices. I think you should see the Microsoft eHome Infrared Transceiver. If you don't see it try installing the drivers in the link I mentioned. The beep might be HIP...IIRC there's an option to beep when it sends a command. Try plugging the IR emitter into the other port in the beanbag. If none of that works, I'm about out of ideas...

Update, I got it to work. I installed MCE 2005 and everything worked. Thanks for all the help this had beena learning valuable experience. I learned more about ir interaction in the last couple of days then I ever learned with Media center in three years. Thanks again and I have to say this software is awesome. I will probably be talking to you soon again.
