I've always wanted to say this, but actually don't understand what you mean by "made an share called mvpmc" If you have renamed it from hosthameharename you need this.

I think the underscore is on the one key, I think this was a Sheik Yerbouti request.

If you can't get the mvpmc share running from the NETWORK_BROWSER because of share permissions, telnet won't work either.

Hi Martin,

Thx for your quick reaction. I meant with "made an share called mvpmc" that with the browse button (via configuration => gedeelde mappen (in dutch don't know the translation used on the popcorn) => browse => workgroup => mypc => sharename (mvpmc on my pc) and added that one as smb://ipadres pc/mvpmc and gave as a popcorn share name "mvpmc". Hopefully this is more clear now.

Tomorrow i will try the 1-key to see if it gives me the underscore.

Do you have a link to your usb telnet solution so I can try to get telnet access because i can browse my usb-stick and know a litte unix (uhm more than a little i think) ;-)

Clearer but if you rename the share name, you need a matching change in gbpvr.cgi.
I don't have a usb telnet solution that will load any differently than mvpmcx2

Thanks for the help just got some time to test some things, but up to now i can't make in work. I've reinstalled everything (btw the installer crashes the first time when it wants to download the first package and write that to <drive>\mvpmc\Temp. After the 'crash' the folders have been made by the installer and second time everything works out fine.

Oke back to business. I've got telnet working so i can see what's running on my popcorn. I've altered the guest accound in Vista so it's enabled now and added the user to the share on the pc. I've altered the samba security negotiation as mentioned here;

But still the same error, I can access the mvpmc share on the popcorn and go the the gbpvr.html (which is on my pc) and run it. But none of the links within the html work.

Any suggestion what to try? maybe start/enable something on the popcorn via telnet?

If you put an audio or video file in the mvpmc share does it play from the PCH using the native interace?

Yes, just tried it works perfectly. I've also tried to setup the shares on the popcorn with the guest account without a password no difference.

I've just made an extra account with a password for the popcorn to see if this helps. (i don't like this because you have to set userid/passwd everywhere) will try this in a couple of seconds.

PS:I'm also trying to get yamj working on to shares (one share works perfectly) but as soon as I use 2 only the one in which the jukebox folder is created is working. The urlcoding is for both shares correct but as soon as I try to start a movie the popcorn only has the share with the .html files in it mounted and not the one with the film. If I access the share directly i see the correct mountpoint appearing and the film works.
** Update just found out that the multiple shares jamj is a BUG in the popcorn ;-( pfff just cost my 3 days trying and trying to finally find a thread in which the same problem is mentioned **

EUREKA, i've seen it working for a couple of seconds. What i've done is go the share on the popcorn so the mount is available. Then on my powerbook telnet connection i've started gbpvr.cgi and suddenly i saw my tvscreen changing and it gave me for a second something i had seen on a screenshot from gbpvr.

So connection must be working now to find out how to start it from the html file.

Little update: After installing mvpmx on my popcorn via telnet/network-share it still is available even after completely powerdown. I've altered the startmeup script and put an # in front of one the first rules. (the line that on default is turned on)

Now it can find my uncommented line to go to 1080p with HDMI and starts without a problem. Yihahoe i'm happy. Why the initial install from the html file doesn't work I don't know.

Next thing is to find out how to make it autostart and incoperate the beautifull backgrounds from aeon and find out what kind of magic gbpvr can bring me.

I'm glad you got something working. You are correct only one line in startmeup can be left without the comment character #
