MKV - turn off subtitles?

I now have mkv files playing in GBPVR (by installing the K-Lite codec pkg), but they generally have subtitles, and I don't know how to turn these off. How do I either turn them off per file or disable them completely?

you probably have vobsub now installed, you can turn off forced subtitles off in that (check "Only show forced subtitles"), or you can disable all subtitles (not recommended if you're watching a movie like "the mummy" where you need to know what they are saying) by checking "Hide Subtitles" on the misc tab

There's a configuration tool for DirectVobSub, so that's what I used. Checking "Only show forced subtitles" didn't work, though, so I had to disable them as you suggested on the Misc tab. That did work. Guess I'll just have to turn it back on if I play a movie that requires it.

looks like someone muxed those mkvs wrong, and set the normal subtitles to default (forced).

you can use mkvmerge gui to remux them and set the "default track flag" for the subtitles to "no". then they will work fine with "only show forced subtitles" (thats what ive done on the mkvs i have with them incorrectly set)
