Thanks, not using subtitles here myself, I am trying to understand how people do use this. I thought most people where using idx/sub for archiving graphic subtitles.

I guess some people are, but since .srt format is more or less plain text it is much easier to translate to another languague if one needs to.

Yes but don't they use Esperanto on Red Dwarf anyway?

I can't really remember, I used to watch it when I was young, but that's beginning to be a very long time since

I just ordered a pch a-110 and a Hauppauge hvr-930c. I will test the vlc postprocessing approach for dvb subtitles as soon as I get it ...

Going digital soon ...

I had no success with the VLC approach, but I can rip dvb-subtitles into .ifo/.sup files. I haven't found a program yet that can Ocr' them into .srt files, so if anyone has done this, please let me know.

i got them extracted from sample file earlier in this thread with http://www.cs.usyd.edu.au/~efax/DVBTextSub.html with this cmd line:

dvbtextsub 579 299 -srt < "Stone Cold_20091030_21002300.ts" -out output.srt output looks like: Code: 1but i have no idea how to easily determine codepage..tho that shouldn't change often.. would be nice if it extracted all to a file/per language..
Hardware: HDHR Prime, HDPVR 1212, Raspberry pi2, VFD display w/LCDSmartie
