Problems with EPG

OK so my last post on this subject got a small response. Trying again.
I have a totaly new db by way of a new install. I set up the EPG as I have before and when I do up arrow I get "object reference not set to an instance of an object ". At this point gb-pvr crashes and I have to kill it with taskmgr. I find that if I remove the extra channels (BBC3, and 4 and ITV3 and 4) It works fine and the guide wraps around like it should.

I am using the latest of everything.

Anyone can help me?

zip and email your mdb file to me at support@devnz.com and I'll take look. Make sure it includes the extra channels, so that I'm likely to see the crash.

Hi All

I solved this problem on my system. It was due to the fact that I had entered duplcate channel numbers in the Config app Channels tab, I'm using the same numbers as Sky Digital UK. If I paged down I got stuck in a infinate loop of those two channels and if I paged up I got the above error. Correcting the channel numbers fixed the problem.

Also, how do you deal with channels that change during the day? Some channels switch during the day so zap2it gives you two entries for a channel (ie. channel 25 is HSN for 12 hours and GSN for 12 hours).

If you go into the configuration app. and goto the channel numbers tab and edit the channel numbers. In my case, it was just a type, 662 instead of 682.

The only suggestion I can think of would be for you to allocate a different number to HSN and GSN. The channel numbers in this tab only effect the display order for the EPG (I think), so it would not effect the number used by the channel changer (Changed in Capture Source / Edit).

We have a similar issue in the UK with Digital Terrestrial (DVB) where a channel only broadcasts for part of the day, such as CBBC and BBC3 which use the same frequency, but are still allocated different numbers by the set top box.

In the long term I think you would need to petition the developer (sub) to allow duplcate channel numbers in the EPG without the errors (possibly at different times of the day).
