Does it help if you disable the recording service on the client? It shouldn't be running there anyway.

Martin

I only have Live TV, Guide and Exit enabled on the client side (plugins)

Mode is act as a client.

Interesting tho... I just noticed settings unchecks Guide after I set it? Now guide is not a menu option? It was keeping the setting before.

OK I guess I did have it on for the tray icon. I turned it off now the Guide is back on the menu--but the situation remains the same.

OK - I think I may have figured it out somewhat.

Previously I had set up the client machine as a combo server/client as an eval. That had created a full set of directories including user/public/npvr and populated it with information like channels and epg info. Before going client only I did a complete uninstall and reinstall thinking that would give me a clean environment. But it did not, So now ... I removed the user folders which is where I think the artifact channels and epg were and then reinstalled.

Now acting as only a client I have no functionality like live tv etc. So I have to figure out how become a client with functionality which is not happening by itself... act as a client is configured with no wols happening...

So my new question is what do I need to do now that it is telling me to set up channels and so forth when I have no physical device on this client?

The reinstall has recreated user/public/npvr and fully populated including .db3

Sound like your share is not setup. I don't think it was the folders issue, I think you were talking to the local server. Make sure it is disabled in services.msc and anyway firewall to the host is open

Thanks everyone for the help.

All working.

- Go to server and share the NPVR folder.
- In the act as a client - server name=ip address of server
- In database share \\[machine name]\Public\NPVR

BAMO :-)

The issue was the database share was pointing to the local drive instead of the server, since there is a 'redundent' .db3 there --- no wol is issued it thinks everything is fine. And of course logs show no errors to work with-- I don't think a trap is built in to warn about the config misstep.

May be useful for other noobies
