This is a weird situation ive found i have, which im sure has nothing to do with GB-PVR and possibly not even the PVR-350 i have... but i dont know where to start looking for an answer otherwise!

Here goes: I have a MATX mobo with onboard sound. TV out from 350's S-Video has the sound plugged into the line in on the motherboard and the scart to my TV. All's good until i decide to take the mobos line out and connect it to my amp.

The weird bit: when i have the TV on and listen to the sound from the amp i get whatever is on the terrestrial channel on the TV, if i mute the TV, it goes.... im baffled, the scart cable cant be two way and be feeding sound to the PVR box can it?? This happens even when the PVR-350 is busy recording a different channel to what i can hear through the amp...??

Anyone has any clues im all ears but i have a feling your going to tell me im hearing things and to seek medical help....

Scart does send signals both ways. [Image: smile.gif]

Yeah when i think about it has to!

Didnt think my TV would send anything from its one scart input though - could the TV be faulty in some way or can the problem be fixed with settings on the PVR-350 in someway?

Hey stu8080,

as nkh says some scart cables are bi-directional. You could get one which works in one direction or if you want, get the pin layouts and you may find that by disabling one this solves your problem.

I have a cheap scart cabel back in Ireland and when I used myDVD player i got ghosting from other channels due to poor sheilding etc. By cutting pin 19 this solved this problem.

It would be worth looking into or you may want to try a "better" cable?

cheers,
Colin.

Good thinking! if i were to try that i think id use a sacrificial lead as im using the 'S-Video/audio out to Scart' bundled with the PVR-350 and play with the connections.

Just tried removing pin 19 - no luck. will find a Scart pin layout and experiment, or as you say get a one way 'decent' scart lead

Nice one, i saw your post after id spent 10 minutes looking for the pin layout on the internet, not as easy to find as i thought it might be!! cheers though.

cutting pin 1 and 3 did the job cheers Colin.

I remembered the old cyberhome help site which had the pin layouts or links to them somewhere. Failing that i'd have called my friend in Ireland as he is an electrical engineer (though he tends not to let me anywhere near cables with cutting toolsSmile

Anyway, glad it worked for you,

cheers,
Colin.
