Major Hostility,

Do you have any update on this? Thanks.

Major Hostility Wrote:I started thinking about this and have a few questions.

First, would you want a single file across all active MVP devices, or a different one for each? I'm guessing one-for-all, but wanted to double check.

Second, should the file only exist while a device is "streaming", or should it exist when a device is connected, but "idle"?

Edit: I think I found the answer for my request with these lines. Ignore my previous request. Thanks.

@echo off
netstat -an |find ":5906"|find /i "establ"
if %errorlevel%==1 goto hibernate
echo %date% %time% MVP is connected on port 5906. Will not suspend or hibernate. > hibernate.log
goto end

Major Hostility Wrote:I wanted to pursue this issue a bit further, and have come up with a plugin that displays a System Tray icon for MVP sessions of GB-PVR.

Currently, it will display the normal "red" GB icon when the MVP is idle or not connected, and will display the "green" GB icon when actively streaming audio or video. The rollover tooltip will also indicate what type of data is currently streaming.

I would like to add another state that indicates whether or not an MVP device is connected, but that's going to take a bit more work.

There's a problem where the System Tray icon doesn't automatically disappear when GB-PVR is restarted that I'm still researching, but mousing over the icon will cause it to go away.

The plug-in can be found here:
MVP_Tray_Icon.zip
Please let me know if anyone has any problems or comments!

Hi,

I think that MVP_Tray_Icon is an excellent idea as I've had quite a lot of problems getting a connection between my GB-PVR PC and MVP and/or IP address allocated. Shall give this plug-in a try.

Keep up the good work.

Kind Regards Smile

Hi I see someone else had this problem at some point, I don't know if there was a resolution? I've just done a new install of 99.12. I have installed v1.6 of the tray icon. At first all worked as before then suddenly after a reboot the tray icons stopped appearing. Many reboots later and they still haven't returned? Any ideas?

Cheers

You might need to got into the Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services and view the properties for the GBPVR Recording Service, and set the startup account to allow it to interact with the desktop.

Afaik that means also that you can't run gbpvrrecordingservice.exe under a user-account, only when it's running under a local-system account you can select the "interact with desktop" feature.

Correct. This isnt a problem in GB-PVR though, but rather a shortcoming of the way the MVP Tray plugin was implemented. He could have implemented it as a multi-process tray icon like I have GB-PVR's built in tray icon.

I've had it working once or twice on a computer reboot, but it seems fickle and disappears for me sometimes too. In previous versions when I restarted the recording service with config.exe, it would always show up.

The author appears long gone, and I don't know if it a sourcefourge project or whether a similar utility can be made. It is a VERY handy utility for me.

I know sub improved the MVP Server but I don't know if this utility is tied into the old one...
