I had this problem with a DVD and I realised that the issue was related to which VTS was being used. Basically, VideoArchiver default VTS was 1 and the DVD I needed to read was using VTS=6.

Hence DVDdecrypter would read "track" 1 and finish almost immediately since it was not the movie it was reading (probably PC friendly stuff) and did not produce the streams for the next stage in the pipe.

Manually changing this worked OK once, but not on the next DVD (which used VTS 1 Rolleyes ).

I will wrap this first stage in a script, which searches for the "big" file before calling DVDDecrypter - I'll let you know how I get on

I managed to remove the need for a script. Here is my solution - fingers crossed....

1) Set the options manually in DVDDecrypter GUI so that the Movie is loaded (I set this in IFO and File mode - although only IFO is needed I think)

2) Remove the "/VTS /PGC" command line options in GBPVR->VideoArchiver->Settings for DVDDecrypter

Now each time I run DVDtoMPEG it loads only the main movie automagically.

Still testing, but works for me.

cool....I'll give it a go over the next couple of days, rebuilding the GBPVR machine tonight so with any luck should be up and running again later.....

Could you explain what options you set manually? I haven't used DVDDecryter before, so I'm not sure what parameters you are changing. So far, I just took out the VTS and PGC parameters. I am trying it now. Looking at the progress it looks like it is decrypting the correct VTS which is 5 for the movie I am trying.

Thanks,
Greg

In the command line arguments for dvddecrypter, what is the value that gets passed in for {AudioStreamIdentifier} if I were to run this command myself?

/MODE IFO /SRC E: /VTS 1 /PGC 2 /DEMUX 0xE0 0x80 0xA0
{AudioStreamIdentifier} /DEST "C:\temp" /SPLIT NONE /START /OVERWRITE YES /CLOSE

Thanks,
Greg

Typically it would also be 0x80, which is the code for an english language audio track. Since 0x80 is already in the command line, you can just ignore that part.

Unfortunately I have come across DVDs that do not use 0x80 as the English audio track, but use 0x81 instead. I am sure other examples will exist.

I see no real way to fix this unless I "grep" on the channel descriptions to pick up the English one (assuming it's English that I want of course) and then assign it as a parameter for the decryption/conversion.

I am investigating how this can be done with a plugin friendly script.

ggee,

The manual change I made which did the job (I think) is :

DVDDecrypter -> Settings -> IFO -> Select Main Movie PGC

Let me know if this works for you

I checked and it was already set. Thanks for the tips. Once I removed the /VTS 1 /PGC 1 from the the dvddecrypter command line in gbpvr config, dvd2mpeg did a perfect job.

Thanks,
Greg
