I think they are trying to accomplish something a little different, albeit using the same tools we've discussed here. What they want to do is enable the viewing of mpg recordings remotely using vlc to stream the mpg. I guess they are trying to integrate vlc into the gbpvr interface.
We actually want to do the reverse, i.e. use vlc to take a non-mpg stream and convert it to an mpg file on the fly allowing the mvp to display streaming internet video.
