I think the reason the video and audio decoders are not being used probably all relate back to the Intervideo mux.

If you set it to use the Microsoft DVR-MS mux then try again, then post the logs, I'll see if I can see why the DVR-MS mux is not working for you. I'm not really familiar with Win2K3, but I'm guessing its not installed by default with this version of the operating system. The logs should confirm this.

Under 96.12, prior to the patch you issued to fix it so that you actually use the MUX selected, the dvr-ms worked great, and that was also under Win2k3. After the patch, I could only get dvr-ms if no other mux was installed, otherwise it would choose to output an .mpg file. Seems to me that Win2k3 had the dvr-ms mux, so long as I ensured that Windows Media Player was up to date (first thing I did after applying all the Windows patches). dvr-ms does not work directly with my DSM-320, but I believe that the latest TVersity software will transcode on the fly, so would be willing to take a shot at that.

I'll be able to play around with it again this afternoon.

OK, I have the first set of logs with only the cyberlink mux installed, and the second set with no mux installed that I am aware of. MUXchecker says there are none. The second log set seem to reference an 'mpeg-2 demultiplexer' which I assume is what is generating the .mpg file. I'll try to see if I can figure out where that is coming from. Still not using dvr-ms, as selected.

0 byte .mpg files show up after I stop the recording.

According to your logs, the Stream Buffer Sink is not available on your machine, which means DVR-MS will not be possible. I'm sure this comes down to it being a component not normally being installed with Win2k3 server. I'm not familar with Win2k3, so couldnt tell you what you'd need to install to get this component.

What version of the Cyberlink mux did you install?

Found: CyberLink MPEG Muxer
FILE: C:\Program Files\devnz\gbpvr\mpgmux\mpgmux.ax
VERSION: 5.0.2022

I also have an older version around here. Previous attempts to use them resulted in most recordings failing to even start. Didn't matter which one. I'll give them another shot.

Not sure if this would affect things, but I had one install program (one of the cyberlink products that I wanted the MUX from) claim I didn't have directx9 installed. I downloaded the full install of directx9 which claimed to load, yet the error that it was not installed continues. May be related to my older video card.

also, after removing the Intervideo MUX, live TV from the ATSC cards no longer works. Even with the cyberlink MUX installed.

5.0.2022 should be a good version of the mux. So what exactly happened when you tried two recordings with the CyberLink MPEG Mux (did the files grow, what size were they)?

Admittedly, the Microsoft DVR-MS mux has always given the best performance with ATSC. If I was you, I would focus my efforts on trying to work out what you need to do to get this installed on your Win2k3 box.

I jus tried it again. Same as all my recording efforts at this point. No file in the created directory until I force the recording to stop. Then I get a zero byte file. Sad

I agree that I would prefer the dvr-ms route this time around. I have looked out on the internet which suggested I install some codecs from WMP9+ to get the dvr-ms codec. That didn't seem to do it. Now I wish I had a small dvr-ms file that I could at least try playing on that system to see if WMP will decode and display it. Guess I'll hunt on the web a bit.

I suspect you'll be able to play one of these files. It'll be quite different components used to generate the files.

OK, stripped down the system. Disabled one of the ATSC 110. Re-enabled it using the cyberlink mux. Now I seem to have three capture sources working. The system may still be a bit unstable, but I'll see how things go.

I did get the filters for dvr-ms installed and somewhat working in that I get 6k files generated (two for each show). If anyone needs instructions for adding the filters to Win2k3, I can give a hand.

Oh, also used Subs patched GBPVRbackendcommon.dll to get my softwarerecorder plugin back. I'll take a crack at getting the two ATSC 100's working under that and see how things go.

Sub, thanks for all the help!

Hmmm, recordings on the ATSC never stop. It looks like GBPVR stops recording, as the file stops growing, but never releases the file and also consumes all remaining CPU. Live TV works on the pvr-250 though.
