ok, when i use the digital mapper it detects the channels but when i click on them in the utility they dont show up in the preview. plus they arent listed in the guide. when i mark the checkbox to enable them and push ok then go back they boxs are unchecked.

I think I'm going to have to agree with sub on this one. If you computer is still rebooting then it is likely that you have some sort of hardware issue going on.

This symptom could be anything really. My PVR used to crash like this when I first started using my HD card. The first thing I did was a clean rebuild of the computer. That helped quite a bit but I still managed to get the occassional crash or random reboot. Turns out that the PSU in my previous case wasn't up to the task. A more powerful PSU alleviated those remaining issues as well.

Make sure the channel numbers in question aren't conflicting with your other source. If so, you will have to modify the channel numbers on the Channels tab of the config app.

I dont know. All the important logs are zero bytes long there, so nothing for me to go on. Try rebooting to see if it'll start generating logs.

i fixed it, i had to un-install and delete the dir in program files. must have been a corrupt config file.

we will see if i can get anything to work this time around

thanks sub,
Mitchell

(if we ever get this working i will for sure donate for your support)

getting close once again.

now i can tune to the digital channels and it works ok. (still need to work on getting the right decoders for smooth playback. what would you suggest?)

here are the issues that im hitting right now.

1) When viewing Digital stations, I enter timeshifting more. pauses ok. the i hit play. it takes GB-PVR a few seconds to switch but i can live with that. then the aspect ratio changes. (i think the change actually goes to the correct size. But now if i try to pause it again then play it GB locks up for about a minute and when it starts playing the audio is out of sync.

2) audio on digital stations is much softer.

3) on some digital stations i get a clicking sound on my reciever (connected via optical)

4)many times when leaving a station the recording service stays tuned and i cant watch a diferant station. I have to restart the recording service.

If you can help me with any of these issues that would be great. If, or should i say when, i get this working i would love to update the wiki.

Thanks,
Mitchell

Reproduce the problem, then zip and attach the logs and I'll take a look. Probably relates to the directshow decoders/filters installed on your machine.

Quote:2) audio on digital stations is much softer.
The audio encoding is done by the broadcaster. Sure, it may be softer. It also might vary from channel to channel.

If its really different and bothers you, you could look into running the ffdshow audio filters to do some equalisation stuff.

Did you apply the patch from the 'v0.98.8 survival guide' thread?
