All new installs of the most recent release should have the "allow service to interact with the desktop" setting unchecked by default.

Sorry sub

Last night I downloaded and installed the lates gbpvr , including first deleting the old devnz just in case.

I still have the little dos box's , and when I go into the services, I see that allow interaction with desk top is still checked on gbpvr recordign services.

I have manulay un checked this box, and the dos box's disapear.

I think sub needs to twidle something in his install.

Its probably some setting left over from the previous install. I've checked it on a clean machine and this setting is off by default.

thanks sub for checking it so fast,

I did delete the complete devnz directory berfore installing, so thought I had covered that.

Is this a thing to put in the wiki or such like.

this may seam little odd but I used to be able to run by just having the recording service on (without starting the MediaMVP server). Recently I had to reinstall the app and now it will not run unless I start the MediaMVP Server. Is there an option somewhere that I am missing ?

Its sounds like you forgot to set the number of servers to autostart in the config app. It needs to bet set to at least one.

That's odd. I just did a completely clean WinXP Pro + GBPVR install to isolate my frustrating issue with the config*, and it was on by default

* The issue well documented here and is that I cannot stop or restart the Recording Service unless I shut down the MVP Server Manually (Alt-Tab). I have now found out why (I think) after a clean WinXP Pro install and will follow up in that thread.

I dont know then. My project install definitely has the 'interact with desktop' stuff commented out. Just turn it off manually, and I'll double check it before the next release.

It's no biggie, I actually need(ed) it ON to make the MVPTrayIcon Work. However if it is on I ALWAYS get the ugly boxes ... and a conflict with "TaDa (Drum Roll)" Beta Spampal 1.73j. More on that in my original thread. I was hoping Major Hostility would crop up and change the utility behaviour... but no dice yet. Not responding to PM's, last visit was Feb 07 and cannot send him an email.

k.
