Thanks, but... I don't have a firewall. I do use hughesnet satellite internet service, but it works with every other type of downloading service... Sad

OK I did a Google on this and it seems a guy with HughesNet is having trouble w/MediaPortal and Zap2It--some suspicion of a .NET framework bug maybe. Oh my... GB-PVR had looked so good to me. Here are those comments:

http://forum.team-mediaportal.com/origin...78&page=45

Is there another way to get the data GB-PVR needs? If not, maybe I will try dial-up, if only to get the system working. :brainstorm:

It just occurred to me that Tivo owners can't download EPG data using Hughesnet, and I think Tivo uses zap2it. Guess I'm SOL unless there is another plug-in or method I could try?

You can use the XMLTV EPG source, even if you're in the US. The XMLTV grabber may behave better with Hughesnet.

After you have this generating a xml file, set GB-PVR's capture source to use the XMLTV EPG source, then point it at that XML file.

I have succeeded to get GB-PVR past this error. The Hughesnet satellite service uses a "Turbo Page Accelerator" aka proxy server at their Network Ops Center, and by telling my modem to bypass this server I can get the EPG to work!

I don't know that I want to run my PC in this way 24/7 (slows down surfing), but I also don't think there is anything that GB-PVR can do to get-around the problem... For anyone who finds this problem here is the procedure for bypassing the proxy:

http://www.dslreports.com/faq/13533?r=805

Thanks sup for your quick response as it enabled me to find this workaround!

Yeah, doesnt really sounds like anything GB-PVR can help with.

Anyway, glad you found a work around.

I'm using Zap2It and have the problem outlined above.

I downloaded the DLL and installed but now GBPVR.EXE fails to start.

CONFIG.EXE starts without an issue but now fails when I try to download the EPG from the config utility.

Attachment shows logs + initial error report under both failures.

Any thoughts on how to proceed ?

Thanks

Your error is different from the error described above:
Quote:2007-03-04 09:27:41.843 ERROR [5] Error UpdateEPG()'ing: System.Net.WebException: The remote server returned an error: (500) Internal Server Error.
In your case its saying the zap2it server had a problem processing your request. The usual cause of this is zap2it having dropped the user's channel lineup. Log into http://labs.zap2it.com and check your channel lineup is listed and you can see the list of channels.

Also, your zip file has a file called gbpvrNewDLL.doc. What DLL have you applied? It looks like you've applied some DLL from a previous release (v0.99.5?) onto the current release (v0.99.12) of GB-PVR.

sub I've gotten dizzy trying to figure-out how to grab XMLTV. I've dl'ed xmltv.exe (windows) from Sourceforge, but how to set it up to grab a file format that GB-PVR uses? Other programs seem to have plugins to help with this? I could find nothing in the wiki... Sad

Well, I found a link to some instructions here AND THIS METHOD WORKS WITH HUGHESNET PROXY ENABLED! Now I just gotta figure out how to get HDHomeRun and GB-PVR to tune more than one channel (thread at HDHR forum)... Thanks again sub for helping me find the Hughesnet issue! Big Grin

To honest, I cant really help you with that side of things, having never used the north american xmltv grabber myself, but one of the other users of this may have some advice for you.

BTW, the guys in this thread are doing north american xmltv: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=16209, so that might be a good place to ask for some tips.

Thanks sub, just so you notice: I figured it out above! Cool

I do still now have a problem tuning more than one channel on my HDHomeRun but I have asked about it over at their forum...
