Found out what was going on...

Evidentally the GBPVRRecordingService.exe was being blocked by Windows Firewall (although I never saw a pop-up warning saying that it would be blocked). I manually added GBPVRRecordingService.exe to the exceptions list and now my files are no longer 0KB. I'm able to record and to play back the recorded files. I would have never thought that the Windows firewall would be stopping me, since I was able to watch live TV, and I never got a warning or anything from the firewall. Plus it appears "GB-PVR" and "GB-PVR Config" were already added to the exceptions list, although I don't recall ever seeing a warning about these or adding them to the exception list. Actually I see quite a few other programs in there that I never added... doesn't seem like much of a firewall if applications can add themselves to the list without telling the user.

Oh well... I have a working setup now... now it's time to start checking out those plugins and skins.

Great - good find.

I'll take a mental note for future HD HomeRun owners reporting the same thing.

Me too. Unfortunately, I secure my network at the entry point and leave the software firewalls turned off on my machines, so I don't run into these problems and tend to forget to consider them. Good catch, I'll update the GB-PVR/HDHomeRun instructions on the SD forums to include this.

This looks like the closest thread relating to my problem. I installed gbpvr with a HDHomeRun. I went throught he entire QAM mapping procedure (PAINFUL for a noob like me). I have the EPG working, but can not watch live tv or record live tv. If I attempt to watch live tv, the gbpvr icon in the systry turns green, the tuner lights up, and if I peek at HDHomeRun manager it looks like it is streaming. Unfortunately, I'm not getting any video output. When I schedule a recording, it shows that it is scheduled. When I check the recording directory, the folder for the recording is present with no video file. What could I be missing?

Also, if I use the HDHomeRun GUI, I do see video fine.

Are you sure you have an MPEG2 decoder installed? Do you see video in the config app when you scanned for channels?

No...I did not. I wasn't sure if I needed to since this is being used just to record. I figured the defaul install was all I needed to just dump to a folder. I guess I was wrong. Which MPEG2 decoder should I install?

I usually just tell people to install the one from http://www.free-codecs.com/download/MPV_Decoder.htm, but I'm not 100% sure it works with HDTV video. Give it a go.

I installed the one you recommended. I can now watch live tv and I can go into the digital map screen and preview the channels. However, when I attempt to record, a folder is created in the recording directory with no file inside.

Reproduce that problem, then zip and attach the logs and I'll take a look.

I think that it may be a mux problem. I'm running Windows 2003 and am not sure what I need to install. Here are the logs from the last recording: [ATTACHMENT NOT FOUND]

For what it's worth, the recording started. The HDHR's tuner0 was showing activity. GBPVR was showing recording. Thanks
