I second this. The kids' shows at our place generally get moved to the video library pretty quickly. Smile

I think this is a great addition. My daughter is 8 so she has no problem navigating the menus. However, this may make it possible for my wife to actually use that "thing attached to the TV" to watch Gray's Anatomy without my help.Big Grin

Could be worse... "Disabled View"?

My wife has no problem working the "thing that attached to the TV" these days. The problem for me (hence the interest in the new "Easy View") is that my kids don't have a problem either...
So they may end up watching something I didn't intend for them. This screen looks like the perfect solution.

In reality, the ability to control what my daughter watches and to present her with a wide range of stuff we consider appropriate has been my main motivation in setting up this whole system. I keep a big harddrive full of shows and movies that she can watch. She actually understands that the server has to be running for the mvp to connect etc. I also permanently remove all the commercials since even a lot of relatively benign shows always have ads for something I don't think she needs to see over and over. Of course, this is also the party line whenever I want to buy something new.......

I am considering, when we buy a new TV for the family/play room, not having any tuners except for what goes through GBpvr. This way it won't even be possible to watch some channels. Easyview could make this even simpler to set up.

I find tinkering with my computers far more interesting than almost anything on TV anyway.

We did talk about this - and we decided 'Easy View' was more appropriate. I was thinking of my mother in law...

I'm having some difficulties to configure the easy view, on a client machine.

I upgraded both client/server (thanks for yet another smooth upgrade).

Now, on the client I started to add stuff to the easy view, but at first nothing showed up (so I suspected the client-mode). But then I managed to get one recording to show, so it's not inherently the client-mode.

Recordings: Well I managed eventually to have something shown. but my daughter's stuff doesn't show. The name of the program is "Franny's feet".
Is it case sensitive? is it for the fact there's the apostrophe " ' " in the name? (in the DB I guess it is with the little thing, cause this is the name it shows in the recording screen, but the folder and file dont have that).

Channels: I tried several channels, none appeared. Is it case sensitive? can it be partial name? for example, "Tree House". In the "media" folder, I have an icon that is "tree", that I believe works. So, how can I tell the true name of a channel?

[EDIT] Maybe add an option to add channels by numbers. At least for me, it's easier this way.
