Is there a methodology for deducting the "gbpvr source channel number" from what my cable provider specifies as Channel K01, k02, ...S01, S02,... ?

Not that I know of. This is why I provided the tuning assistant. Unfortunately it doesnt produce logs, so next to impossible to tell why it might be having problems for you.

I've put in the frequency in Hz (from my provider's list of channels) instead of a channel number. That did the trick for me.
