So I download .ax files. What do I do with them? You can't point to a directory with them in.

What does "there is a tool in the gbpvr drop down menu (bda mux checker) to check if you have a mux installed" mean?

There are no drop down menus in GBPVR and I don't see what you describe in any of the Config tabs either :confused::confused:

start(green button in xp)all programs/gbpvr/bda mux checker
you download the mux from the link sub gave you or herehttp://www.gbpvr.ynosgroup.com/cyberlink_mux/
place that in your system32 folder is the easiest way
then register explained in the second link i gave you

you have to register the mux with windows so it knows its there
http://www.free-codecs.com/guides/How_to..._files.htm how to register the mux

then you go to the misc tab to select it

Brain full, went to bed. Started again in the morning.

I ran the MuxChecker. It says "NO MULTIPLEXER FILTERS WHERE(sic) FOUND ON YOUR MACHINE"

I presume that this is not as things should be.

Going over to the Config app > misc tab, the BDA Multiplexer drop down offers me Cyberlink, Microsoft DVR-MS, ATi MPEG Mux, InterVideo, SS and TS Mux.

So I appear to have muxs but the muxchecker says none  . In any event, whichever BDA mux I choose, it makes no difference, I cannot watch what I am recording and worse than that, when the recording has finished and I play it back, it is blank too Sad

On the config>playback tab I have a choice of three video decoders; System Default, InterVideo NonCSS... and MainConcept(Hauppauge) MPEG...
Only the Hauppauge works. The other two produce jerky sound and pictures .

Any ideas for what to try next?

I re-ran regsvr32 with every .dll and .ax file I had downloaded as suggested by all the previous posts.

The MuxChecker now reports 4 different Cyberlink and one ATI multiplexer on my system. As you say the Config>misc drop down choice has not changed. I tried both ATI and Cyberlink but nothing changed. I still see nothing when recording.

it will only use the first cyberlink mux it finds when you select it basically you should only install one at a time
what size is the file after the recording ?

I did a search for all .mpg files and found the recordings. There are various from 60M to 500k in size.

Now here's the thing, WMP plays them OK, so GBMVR has recorded OK, it just won't display while recording or play back afterwards!!

You'll have to spoon feed this mux thing to me. I have no idea what I'm doing or why. I think quantum physics was easier than this Big Grin. Why is it not in the Wiki manual???

Oops, it is in the Wiki manual :o

It looks like I should have tried the native mux first. However there are no .dll or .ax files on the Hauppauge CD. I'm still none the wiser. Help.

I've unistalled all except one Cyberlink and the ATI mux. This checks out with MuxChecker.
