Looks like something to do with either your videocard or the video decoder you're using.

I assume you get the same thing if you copy the file locally to the client then play it from there?

Yes you are right. I get the same locally. I use the Nvidia decoder.

I have the Nvidia GeForce 6150 LE on this motherboard.

It'll be either your videocard or the video decoder. Try updating the nvidia video card drivers to see if it helps.

Actually, have just played back an avi file using fddshow rather than nvidia, and it was fine.

I thought the nvidia codec was supposed to be the best!?

I have now gotten the streaming live tv to work ok by using GPL MPEG-1/2 Decoder, but it freezes if I try and change the channel, or it is very, very slow at changing the channel.

Any ideas?

Yeah it is pretty slow at changing channels (5-6 seconds). It can also be a bit flakey for live tv.

I do hope to spend some time improving the live tv behaviour for client PCs in the future, but this will have to wait until I find some more free time.

More like 10-15 seconds changing channels. So, it not quite ready for the client/server setup yet in your view? Just so I don't spend more time trying to make that work.

It is what it is, and good enough for what I needed from a client setup. The wife and I have used the client server setup most days for the last year or so without any major issues.
