BlogApostille Wrote:he installation program for -Lite is improved constantly. So make sure you have got the latest one.First things first, make sure you have uninstalled any previous versions of Kazaa (or any other FastTrack client, like Grokster) that you may have installed. The best way to do this is with the standard Windows Add/Remove option in the Control Panel/Configuration Screen.

Now go into to your program files directory (usually c:\program files\) and open the K-Lite directory. Delete all contents, unless => Important note: If you have added descriptions to your shared files that you want to keep, you might want to keep the contents of the 'db' folder, so you can copy it to the Kazaa Lite db folder after installation. If you use the 'My Shared Folder' to download to, you should not delete it, because any unfinished downloads will be put there after they are finished downloading.

There is a huge difference between Kazaa (peer to peer sharing platform) and K-Lite Codec pack (collection of audio/video codecs)

If I remember correctly, I have a version of K-Lite Codec pack 1.67 that I install to new systems. I do the basic install and everything works without any tweaking at all (except I need to deal with a specific MPEG codec)

There have been many many new versions of the pack, but involves far too many tweaks and adjustments. I've never seen anything easier than 1.67.

But be warned! As Ted the Penguin said, there are many new and or rare video formats that require newer or tweaked codecs, and you may still have to play around...

One time, when I tried to avoid packs altogether I had a lot of success (but a lot of work) using GSpot to identify the codec required to play a video, and then installing only that codec. I ended up installing only a few, and that satisfied my needs until I started downloading sample files from YOU GUYS Big Grin(working on ZProcess)

It seems there's no end to individual taste and choice. So there's no hope in a one setup for all solution...

Man that is so old news. Big Grin I moved to Australia almost two years ago, but that didn't quite work out. I'm in Calgary now
