I am not sure if this is a network timing issue, latency, or something related. Occasionally when going to a network path such as the gbpvr I get network inaccesable however I can view the shared items on a particular PC but when I try to open the shared item I get the "inaccessible" error.
Some time later I will be able to access it and it will be fine for ages.
I beleive this gets worse when swapping from a wired lan to wireless.

Even though the client can not locate the server ( it could be just turned off) it probably does not want to generate unxepected exceptions but instead try again every few minutes.

I'll make sure I can access the path then try and start up again, If there is still a problem I post the logs.
The server side seems to be ok now.

cheers

I've check the network again and I can see the share fine, even open the SQL database file.
PVRX2 now starts ok and after a few secconds the TV guide appears - the connection is quite slow.
But the recording service still reports an error that it can't find the database - odd seeing as PVRX2 can find it.

here are the logs.

cheers

I;m trying to load an instance of GBPVR 1.1.5 on my 2000 server to allow avi files to be played through my mvp. I loaded .Net 2.0 and the modified runtime Sub posted but I get an exception error when the recording service starts saying
Quote:2008-01-19 22:07:04.140 ERROR [8] FATAL UNHANDLED EXCEPTION:: System.IO.FileNotFoundException: The specified module could not be found. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8007007E)
at GBPVR.RecordingService.xa9e17cce0eee6a7a.xcba1f05fb5a46d5f()
at System.Threading.ThreadHelper.ThreadStart_Context(Object state)
at System.Threading.ExecutionContext.Run(ExecutionContext executionContext, ContextCallback callback, Object state)
at System.Threading.ThreadHelper.ThreadStart()

Reloaded everything and still get error. This thread was the closest to my problem my search of the forum could find. I'm sure it's still a repost though, sorry.
TIA

On Windows 2000 you also need to install MDAC2.6 or higher. Do you have this installed?

I do now! and that fixed it. Excellent work again Sub. I knew it would be something simple I overlooked. :o
Thanks again.

Oops! Spoke to soon. The record service runs without error but the config.exe still gives the error. Is a reinstall/repair of GBPVR needed?

Installing SP1 for .Net 2.0 to see if that fixes anything.

You may also need to update the version of WMP or install DirectX9.

GB-PVR is only tested against XP and Vista, but I think others have indicated these are required when trying to use the app on Windows 2000.

Hi Sub I have MDAC_TYP.exe installed. do you know what version that is? I thnk 2.8 but how do I know?

Directx 9c I think I have, plus the .net sp1.

I think my network problem is inherent in win2000 - but if I open "my computer" it seems to refresh something and I can see the shared gbpvr. If you hear of a fix for that it would be great.

cheers

I'd have no idea what version it is. It probably said it on the page you downloaded it from Big Grin
