Quote:I have several music channels that I know are unencrypted that don't appear to be showing up in the scan.
GB-PVR doesnt support music channels, so doesnt show any found during a scan.

I am beginning to think either the drivers and/or the hardware are crap. VistaView is no longer replying to my requests for support.

Spaceghost, are you able to get HD OTA in any other programs(ie Beyond TV or MythTV)? I haven't been able to check that since I am just beyond the edge of reception for OTA without buying an expensive antenna. I too have been unable to get the QAM working with this card with the latest drivers that VistaView supplied. I think that them claiming the new drivers work with GB-PVR is a little premature. Usually, most companies worth their salt would like more than 'one' user to have it up and running before making such a claim.

I have not had success doing ota hd with the vistaview either. I have tried in both gbpvr and snapstream beyondtv. In beyondtv, the first scan for ota signal strength would show the channels I expected to see with high signal strength. Running another pass in the scan and the signal strength might go from +95 to 0 without changing the antenna. Attempts to view live ota hd would fail. Sub said my logs when configuring qam indicated a failure to lock on the signal - sounds like the same thing happens with ota.

The whole thing is so disappointing to me because the analog quality is good and I wanted a small pci card to do both analog and qam. I wish I knew whether this was a hardware or driver issue. I might be tempted to hold on to the card if I knew it was a driver issue because there is a chance they might fix it. I have two cards acting the same way - either both tuners are bad (which seems unlikely but possible if there is a design flaw) or the drivers are bad.

Have you tried backing off the new drivers and using the old for OTA? I wouldn't think that would be the problem, but you never know....

Going back to the old drivers did enable ota to work - this leads me to believe the qam problem is in the driver. The ota scan did pickup more channels that my HVR1600 - I had read the tuner in this card was very good.

spaceghost, I had to modify my qam.ini to use the correct frequencies to get my qam channels with the VistaView. If you can post your lineup.xml from the HDHomeRun (or "digital cable.xml" for the latest drivers), I can tell you if you need to do the same.

Whurlston, do you know of any other way to get the frequencies for QAM channels in my area? I don't have the HDHomeRun setup to find them.

I'll put together a set of qam.ini files for all possible frequencies used by cable channels. I'll have it up by tonight at the latest.
