Quote:Thanks for looking into this sub. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling GB-PVR from scratch but just got the same 'unknown' list of channels.
This is problem with your device or its drivers, not GB-PVR, so reinstalling GB-PVR isnt going to help.

Quote:I'll see if there's some alternate drivers for my Compro Videomate T220 card. If I find some drivers that work I'll post them in this thread for other users.
OK, good luck.

Unfortunately the only T220 drivers on Compro's website are an earlier version to those supplied with the card, v.1.3.5.7 as opposed to v.1.3.6.6. I couldn't find any alternate / newer drivers on the web. I tried v.1.3.5.7 but experienced the same problem, so rolled the driver back to 1.3.6.6. Oh well.

The card works fine with Compro's (poor quality) bundled TV/recording software and with MediaPortal, so I'm sure this is a GB-PVR issue. I'll try again with future versions of GB-PVR but for the time being it looks like I am out of luck, unless you can suggest any other course of action.

Thanks for your help guys.

Sorry, I dont know then.

GB-PVR works fine with hundreds of other BDA devices, and treats them all the same, so there must be something quirky about this specific device that doesnt like the way GB-PVR does things.

I guess so, how annoying. The reviews were good for the Compro product (as a budget TV card), but the bundled software is so poor I really need something else. MediaPortal looks like it will be good at some point in the future, but not right now. Principally I want GB-PVR to use its 'Recording Service', then I can schedule my recordings, close the main TV software, and let the servce do its stuff, even if I'm setting the recording up a week in advance. Thanks again for your help. Maybe Compro will update the drivers on their website and I'll be in business.

OK - how about a hack?

I use Crystal Palace and can supply all the tuning information you need, i.e., we could bypass the scanning stage.

It's possible that the card may still not work with GB-PVR if the drivers need some sort of special treatment that only Compro know about, but it might be worth a try.

Let me know if you want to go with it.

Cheers,
Brian

Brian,

Many thanks for your reply, I would have replied sooner but didn't get the email notification, my spam filters have caused a few problems so I've been checking the spam folder every few days...

Thank you for your very kind offer which I'd like to take you up on if that's still ok?

I'm unsure how to enter your data or even how it will be formatted, is it as simple as using (or altering) one of your config files? I'm pretty technically competent, but a pointer on how to proceed would be most welcome.

Thanks again and I'm looking forward to hearing from you.

Cheers.

In theory, if I let you have a copy of my scan cache file, you could drop it in place and it would basically 'fool' the config app. into thinking you'd already done the scan. You could then just map the channels from the info in the scan file.

Bear with me and I'll do a full scan on my system and post the file.

Cheers,
Brian

Just outside of West London (by about a quarter of a mile) about 2 miles south of Heathrow Airport.

OK - let's see if this works...

  1. Drop the scan cache file into your gbpvr\BDA folder.
  2. Take note of your scan cache file's name - I'm guessing it'll be SCAN-1.cache.
  3. Delete your scan cache and rename mine to have the same name as your's had. This is important as the number in the filename reflects your tuner ID in the database.
  4. Start Config and go to Capture Sources, select your capture source then choose Edit.
  5. On the 'Edit Recording Source' page, remove any channels that are listed in the Channels list. You can select multiple channels by selecting the first and holding the shift key when you select the last.
  6. When you've removed the channels, click the 'Map digital channels to EPG channels'.
  7. At this stage, I'm hoping the box on the left will have a list of channels which it pulled out of the scan cache file.
  8. Click in the 'Tuning Request' column for a channel and you should get a drop-down list box. Select the relevant channel and tick the box in the Enabled column.
  9. Once you've mapped the channels, click OK to return to the previous dialog then select Update EPG.
Give it a try and let me know if you have problems.

Cheers,
Brian
