sub Wrote:In the config app, enable live preview mode, and make sure the live tv buffer directory is set to a location that exists. If that doesnt help, reproduce the problem then zip and attach the logs and I'll take a look.

Will do later today as I'm about to leave for my real job:eek:. The logs give the same error, e.g. "GBPVR.Backend.Common.GbpvrException: Failed to locate configured capture device" and "FindFilterByName failed to locate filter: NVIDIA DualTV CrossBar". When I said no errors above I meant there are no errors displayed on screen, sorry for the apperent confusion.

sub Wrote:This is a known bug in this release. Its easily fixed by creating an empty 'skin' subdirectory in the gbpvr directory.

Ah, that's good to know it's unrelated. Thanks.

Sorry, I really dont know. The cause of the problem is clear to me from looking at your logs.

I think you meant "The cause of the problem is not clear ..." ?

Well, I certainly appreciate your help. If you can think of anything worth trying I'm certainly all ears.

Well, I'm pleased to report some success. I read over in the Nvidia forums I found a post stating the DualTV Vista drivers are "buggy", and further that Vista SP1 "breaks" them (I only put those in quotes because there is no elaboration on this).

I will say that that they seem work in VMC, at least when I tested them, and to NVidia's credit this card was never intended to operate outside of XP MCE. BUT, the reported fix was to install the XP drivers. So I did this. Vista swallows them without complaint, and at least on my test Vista install I now have a picture within GBPVR. Big GrinBig GrinBig Grin. When I can go back to my original install I will consider this fixed!

I was just going to add a followup that the crux of my problem would indeed apear to have been bad Vista drivers (v2.02) for the NVidia DualTV. The XP drivers (v1.34) seem to work in Vista just fine both on my test and configured Vista installs. Even the MCE extensions work in VMC so you can fine tweek the input settings for noise reduction, VCR timing, etc (which nobody apperently has yet figured out how to do outside this extension).

Unfortunately, this card was discontinued about the time Vista went 'live' so it is doubtful the Vista drivers will ever be fixed.

Sub, thanks for your help. I think without your quick responses I would probably have given up in total frustration...

What card do you have?

Run filtercheck.exe from the gbpvr directory, then zip and attach the filtercheck.log and I'll take a look.

I have a PVR 150MCE from Hauppauge and WinTV works fine and so does MCE and another program I am testing.
