Hauppague 1250 need help!!

First of all excellent software Sub, Thank you for all your hard work and the work of others concerning this project and all the accutrimon.


I am currently using this card to watch digital/analog svid/comp etc....
and have been using gbpvr for a couple of yrs now...

I have read the above posts about it not being supported for analog on the 1250 above and I understand that it's because the encoder is software. The question I have is why can I watch These shows (currently watching an old 9ers playoffs game on it) but can't record form the analog source. I am a systems analyst so I'm sure there is a logical explanation for it, but since tv hardware/software is not my bailywick can you give me a quick overview of why I can watch but not record? (since the soft that comes with the card (and others) can do both) Thank you in advance for yer time Sub

Watching live tv doesnt need to the hardware encoder. It simply renders the audio and video pins. Recording does require the stream to go through the hardware encoder. Some other software achieves the same thing using software encoding components, but I'm not a fan of these.
