Hi ALL,

I just installed the Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-1250 on my PC running Vista 32 Home Premium and while the included WinTV works reasonable well, I wanted to give GB-PVR a try, but I'm having nothing but trouble!!

When I run PVRX2 I can't seem to get anything to work. I did run Config and managed to get it to scan for the clear QAM channels on my syetem (Verizon FiOS) and it indeed found 190 channels. However whenever I go into PVRX2 and try to click on Live TV all I get is a flash and nothing happens. This is the same thing that happened even before I was able to scan for channels. Worst yet when I go to TV Guide it freezes and I have to abort it. Granted I told it not to get any EPG but still it should not freeze!!

Am I missing something? How do I get plain old Live TV to work?

Also, I have a set-top-box hooked into the composite input of the tuner so I can get all the other channels but I'm at a loss as to how to set up GB-PVR to access that.

However my priority is to get Live TV to work so any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks,
Gerry

At the end of the channel scan, did you map some of those channels? ie click in the tuning request column of the EPG channel list shown on the left?

Sorry but the analog side of this device lacks the hardware MPEG2 encoder so isnt supported with GB-PVR.

Hi Sub,

I hate to be dense but where do I go to do that. I went into the Channels tab of Config and all I see are Channel Name (for now just a number and something like "Unknown1"), Channel Number and Favorite (where all are checked). If I go to the Capture Sources tab and edit the BDA Recording Plugin I see the list of channels with Name, Enabled (all are enabled) and Tuning Request. If I click on a a single Tuning Request nothing happens. If I right click other than the normal cut/copy/paste all I get are: Right to left reading order, Show Unicode control characters, Insert Unicode control characters and Open IME.

I have no idea what IME is but I clicked it anyway but nothing happened. When I right clicked again that option was now Close IME so I closed it!! But as far as I could see nothing happened.

So am I in the wrong place or am I not doing something right?

Bummer!! That what I really wanted to try GB-PVR for as I see it supports a channel changer which I assume can send out an IR command to change the channel of an STB.

Does anyone know of another program that would support the composite input of the 1250 and can command an STB to change channels?

Thanks,
Gerry

When you view your capture source settings, and click the 'Map digital channels to EPG channels' button, it'll scan for channels. When that scan completes you'll see the list of EPG channels on the left of the screen. You need to click in the tuning request column for each channel you need to map.

GB-PVR can use the 1250's IR Blaster to change channels just fine, but cant record the analog signal coming from the composite input of that device.
