Interesting.....

The "resource hog" has vanished!
Maybe the USB-UIRT driver doesnt like something about your machine. You could try updating your motherboard chipset drivers.

I always have been using ffdshow as my codec (this worked without the STB before).
This type of thing is typically related to the decoders, so I'd try other decoders to see if it helps.

What is the best codec in your experience? I don't mind paying for it!

If I am without USBUIRT, what other alternatives I have for channel changer? I will be using the TV purely for its PVR functionality.

It seems to vary depending on your hardware, version of windows, video renderer, source material, resolution, direction of the window. Try this one: http://www.free-codecs.com/download/MPV_Decoder.htm. It works well for most people doing standard def stuff.

As mentioned, you could see if updating your motherboard chipset or USB drivers helps. Alternatively you could look into using the an MCE ir blaster.

What didnt work about it? Set it as the decoder, then try viewing live tv, then zip and attach the pvrx2.exe.log and pvrx2.exe-native.log and I'll take a look.

The picture is shuttering! Something similar to slow motion frame by frame - sound is good!

My setup

STB -> COAXIAL CABLE -> ATI TV WONDER 650

Enclosed screen shot of my settings and logs.

I have a hunch that this is something to do with buffer or something but not sure what settings to tweak!

What do you have the 'deinterlacing' setting set to on lower-left of the Misc tab? It should be 'encoder pass through'.

It was NONE - Changed it to encoder pass through' and it works like a charm! Thanks a ton sub - you were very helpful.

Now if only I could get this USBUIRT working I am golden!

Ok just to bring this thread to a closure.....

My setup ATI TV WONDER 650 + USBUIRT + ATI REMOTE + DISHNETWORK DISH351 STB. Had to learn the remote codes using USBUIRT.

I had lots of problems with USBUIRT - It is very picky on the type of USB used to connect it! I had 100% CPU usage and the whole PC came to a standstill. Finally, Jon (of USBUIRT) replied to my query as follows:

Quote:We have had very infrequent reports (2-3 users over the life of the product) that have seen 100% resource utilization when the USB-UIRT is in use. In those cases the problem was resolved with a different USB host controller.

I therefore, tried different used a different USB controller in my PC and it is now working! I will observe for some days and hopefully everything will work fine!

Thanks a lot to sub for helping me out (as always) replying to queries.
