soccerdad Wrote:dennit- I have the same isssue with .ts recordings of dvbs. http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?t=40208 I don't think it is your setup. I am on xp sp3. Have you found any setup that can record dvbs on .ts? Like you, I want to use .ts so I can also use multirecord on QAM. I uploaded a full ts file for sub to look at but he has been swamped.

Thanks for the reply, soccerdad. I really appreciate it. As you can see from my various posts, I've had a heck of a time going to 1.3.anything. My first few attempts were frustrated by having previously set the "ignore errors" in config. Sub set me straight on that and it's now off. Later attempts at upgrading probably failed because I was trying to use .ts for multirecord.

To answer your question - I haven't tried to use .ts for 1.2.13 - there's been no reason to try, and none of the 1.3.x installs have worked for me. I think .ts works for QAM under 1.3.11 for me, but then again, I thought dvr-ms worked under 1.3.11 for dvb-s, and that seems to have been wrong. I've considered trying to use .ts under 1.2.13 just to see if that works, and I may start there as I work towards a 1.3.11 install. At least I would know whether it's the .ts part or the 1.3.11 part that is frustrating me.

I do understand that there are limitations trying to run both multidec and multirecord. Have you tried any of the post recording decryption software that 1.3.11 supposedly makes it possible to use?

Soccerdad,

I just read your thread. Are you running 1.3.11? Can you record QAM in .ts with multirecord working?

Yes, multi-record works fine on QAM with .ts in 1.3.11 for me. I just get 0 byte files on .ts for dvbs. If I switch to ati mux, the dvbs records just fine in mpeg. But if I do that, multirecord does not work since it is only available in .ts mux. So for now, if I want to record dvbs, I just go into config and change the mux. I don't like to do this though since I know I will forget to set it back and loose one or both of my multirecord programs.

If you take multidec out of the mix, by disabling it, and recording a FTA channel of DVB-S, do you still have the problem?

I just tried again and verified with the multidec support off, I still get 0 byte files trying to record a FTA channel.

Can you post the logs for an attempt to record this FTA channel?

You don't mention dvr-ms, which I've been using under 1.2.13, and which initially seemed to work for me under 1.3.11, but then started to fail. Nonetheless, I'm pretty sure that I'm seeing the same results you describe with mpeg and .ts. With luck, sub will figure out the .ts/dvbs issue by the time I'm ready to switch.

Thanks for the info.

Soccerdad, can you:

1) apply the attached patch
2) create a c:\temp directory
3) create a HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Devnz\LogTSWriter=1 (DWORD) registry setting
4) do a recording that shows the problem
5) zip and attach the c:\temp\record* file.

OK, here is the file

FYI, with this patch, it does not create any recording file (not even a zero byte file)
