Anyhow, thanks for the help. On to the next issues. Looks like when watching live tv the audio is out of sync

This will be directly related to the decoders you are using. I had sync issues with AC3Filter, specifically when the audio switched from 2.0 to 5.1 (like when commercials end and the show resumes). I switched to ffdshow and I no longer have the sync issue.

and for some reason the screen goes black when I try to use the pause, timeshift, functionality. Seems to record just fine using the Guide option.

HD programs need a little longer to buffer before playback because of the amount of data. Try increasing the LiveTV preplay delay (Config -> Playback tab -> bottom right). This will cause a longer delay when you first hit pause because it gives the file a little longer to buffer. If you don't use live preview mode, it will also increase the delay in changing channels. I've found 2000-2500 ms to be a good setting but you may need to play with it to get the right balance of buffer time to wait time.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll have to try those out. Haven't played with ffdshow.
