reven,
As I don't have permanent internet access from my htpc, I would prefere the:
<table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">Code Sample
track01
track02
track03...
[/QUOTE]

If you go for the other route, I think it is essential to have this as fall-back (wehenever freedb is down etc...)

OscarL, thanks that makes sense, sadly its just a generic error message.  can delete the updated database and replace it with the blank one supplied in the zip file, then just enter the plugin, it will add the files to the database as they are found, try and browse around and see where it crashes, it should then narrow down where its crashing.

mabo it first tries to find the cd info in the database, so if its there you it wont connect to freedb.org. ill consider putting a option in the config &quot;dont lookup cd info from freedb.org&quot;, but allow for a button to find this info, eg &quot;Go&quot; which will look it up. but first things first, i have to fix the freedb.org code.

hi reven its me again!

i've just played around a bit with ripping. If i rip a cd which is found only one time in freedb the infos seem to be written to the id3 tags but the files and the dir are not renamed. And when i rip a cd that has more then one entry in the freedb neither the tags are written nor the files are renamed. (but i'm sure the cds are in the freedb. Tested with audiograbber the lookup from exaktly the same server de.freedb.org as is use in mymusic but did not download the info there)

Maybe there is someone else who can test the problem if on your pc all works well.

hmm thats wierd, every single cd ive tried has worked fine, the renaming/moving ill look at, there might be an access permission error happening (ie the files are being accessed and cant be moved/renamed). the code im using does give back several hits but i only use the first one.

ok Heyt i completely misread your post. try download this which is the source code of the freedb lookup util i use. in the bin/debug directory theres a compiled windows GUI try looking up the info via that, if it shows up, then yes theres somethign wrong with my code. also if it shows up, try looking up the info by navigating to the cd rom directory and add &quot;cda&quot; to the known extensions, if that shows up also, try ripping it again, maybe it was just a stupid one off error. but i doubt its a one off thing, but doesnt hurt to check.

OK reven i've tested around with the tool you said and found out what's actually wrong.
First, your freedb code is ok also with ripping. The problem is that it only checks the first cd drive and then it crashes if i have the cd in the second drive and non in the first. I always had a virtual drive as x: and then my two physical ones as y: and z:. The problem is also reproduceable if i deactivate the virtual drive and then put the cd in z:. Maybe you can change your freedb code to fix that problem.

But now where i know how it works. I found a second problem. The first time i enter a cd all is ok and the data are loaded from freedb. And then if i enter the cd a second time it crashes. Here's the description from gbprv.exe.log

no it's the same cd. i enter the cd -&gt; freedb is asked -&gt; all OK -&gt; back to virtual root -&gt; reenter the same cd and it happens. But it's the same if i enter a cd one time and get the freebd info and then enter it another time sometime later (can put in several others in between). It seems that it always happens when the cd is already in database.
