This is one of the reasons I like to have a dedicated sound card. However, the quality of the new onboard chips is pretty damn good too. I don't guess you have a sound card laying around you can try?????
I'm not a huge codec pack fan but maybe you can give this a try. Try everything it offers you.

I am starting to think it is a driver issue with the HVR-1800...

"Source pin for connect not found"

I sent Hauppauge an e-mail. I might give them a telephone too.

I have the latest Hauppauge driver for the WinTV-HVR-1800...

Installation CD Version 4.8A with WinTV version 6

Notes:

* this driver/application download package contains all the drivers and applications necessary to reinstall your WinTV under Windows XP, Windows Vista (all versions) and Windows 7. See below for individual applications.
* for QAM TV reception (where available), you need to use the WinTV v6 or v7 application, Windows 7 Media Center or Windows Vista Media Center with TV Pack 2008. Other thrid party applications, such as SageTV and BeyondTV, support clear QAM TV as well.

I have the latest version of the driver for my Realktek HD audio which is actually a really good onboard sound chip...

R2.30 2009/8/11
Vista, Windows7 Driver(32/64 bits) Driver only (Executable file)

And everything works great with the latest version of GBPVR other than the sound. I even took the time to see if the cables were plugged in which they are.

You said you had no sound in Recording, so start by seeing if your recorded files actually have recorded the sound. (I suspect it's in there, but find out. You can play them on your own machine, but if that fails, copy them to another working machine.) If the sound is in there, then try to play these files with other players. Windows Media Player, graphedit and MediaPlayer Classic-Home Cinema should do the same thing that GBPVR does, while VLC should do its own thing. See which if any will play the sound. Those tests should help debug this.

Even when played on another computer? Do you have sound from videos recorded by others?

No sound on recorded videos played on the other computer. I do have sound from videos I recorded on this computer when I ran WinXP and I have sound from videos from the other computer.

I just recalled - Are you aware that Vista and later have per-application audio level control? Make sure you have the audio for pvrx2.exe turned up to an audible level. I had this problem at one point - my pvrx2.exe audio level was too low.

It is turned up to the max according the the new sound mixer when PVXR2 is running. The sound bar never goes up and down though.

OK, then sound is not getting into your recordings. I'd test the card in the manufacturer's app - WinTV. See if that gives you sound. Perhaps the card is bad?
