I was playing the files in the recordings menu. I just tried playing the files via the video library. Same results as when playing in the recordings menu. The pre-update files play full screen and the post-update files play proper 4/3 aspect ratio.

i know it's not the same, but maybe related?

i was only getting it in timeshift mode in 1.3.11...
the new version seems much quicker on the playback startup, so maybe not waiting for enough file to exist before checking? and livetv transition is a quick file change..
just throwing out thoughts..

I'm having this problem too with content from my Video Library. Standard def video wants to fill the screen on my HD TV where it would automatically choose the correct aspect ratio before, on at least the past 5 versions.

Something has changed.

All of my recorded SD files are doing it now, even the ones that are newly recorded. If I play a file that is still recording, it displays in its proper 4/3 aspect ratio. As soon as it is completed and I select it, it displays in full screen.

Nothing has changed since last night. I haven't even shut the computer or program off. I see others are having the same issue. At least there is some comfort knowing that I am not seeing things. Hopefully, we can find a solution to this issue.

We tell the program that we are using a 16:9 TV. The mpeg recording has the aspect information of the recording. How is the aspect ratio processed? Is it done in the codec or the renderer, or is it set in the PVRX2 program?

Make a one minute recording, and put it somewhere I can download it, and I'll take a look.

Just to clarify what I'm experiencing...

My SD recordings are divx encodes of Deep Space 9 I did from my VHS collection with a canopus FireWire input on my Mac years ago.

Mine are not even recordings I did with GB-PVR, rather MPG4 encodes from a different computer.

Like others, I can flip through the aspect ratios and correct it, but I have not had to in the past.

Ok, I'll wait for athomas to supply a sample recording. I'm more interested in GB-PVR recordings than external file types at this stage.

Here is a file that is just over 1 minute.

ftp://ftp.thomasweb.ca/download%20folder...002300.mpg

I had a hard time recording it. I started the recording once and couldn't stop it. It showed that it was ready, didn't show in pending recordings, but was still growing. I could watch it in 4/3 aspect ratio as I was playing it. The only way to stop it was to restart the recording service. I think that may be what happened last night as well when I was watching the 4/3 aspect recording. I had a hard time getting rid of the old recordings, so it makes sense now. On my second try I did it all from the tv guide and was able to stop the recording without any problems. Like all other recordings, it played in full screen after it was completed.

Thanks for all your effort on this. I love GBPVR.

Hmmm, my machine seems to show the correct aspect ratio with that file.

Can you try playing that specific file, then post your pvrx2.exe.log and pvrx2.exe-native.log files?

Played the file. Here are the logs you requested. Its definately not reading the aspect ratio as indicated in the logs.
