I agree, I would use the 150 if I had room for a second device. But curt1s has digital too, so a QAM tuner looks like a near future addition.

I have one computer with 3 tuners...Hauppauge 1600, Hauppauge 2500, and KWorld PCI 120 ATSC tuner. I have a second computer that has a single tuner, a Hauppauge 150 connected to a digital converter box. All of these are getting an antenna feed. I honestly can not tell the difference between the three tuners in the first computer...the KWorld does just fine. In fact, the old Hauppauge 150 used to give me issues with reception...it would lose audio often and I would have to re-scan channels to fix. Bottom line, if you are using a digital tuner, I would not be afraid of the lower priced cards (at least KWorld is working fine for me). With analog tuners you might see a bigger difference in image quality, I'm not sure.

Hello,

Ok, I am looking into the HVR1600 on newegg.com and I see 3 different ones:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductLis...00&x=0&y=0

Which one do I want to get? I am not even sure I have "digital"cable or not. I have Comcast and I have a set top box which can get me the higher channels. Is that considered digital?

What I really want to do is split the cable, have one input form the wall go directly into the tv card, I guess this is considered analog?? and then have one input go into the cable box and then also into the card.

What is the best card for this setup?

Will GBPVR be able to record from both feeds at the same time or do I need to run two instances of GBPVR?

Thanks!

Curtis,
I'm also on Comcast dig cable in MD. I had been using a PVR-500 and still have it in my HTPC, but recently picked up a HDHR and it rocks. I see no need for an analog capture card, all analog stations are also in digital plus so much more. That I can tune TV on any PC on my network is icing on the cake.

If you have an HD set-top box and subscribe to and want to record premium channels, don't get the HDHR. You really have only one choice; the Hauppauge HD-PVR that captures from the set-top box component video and stereo or digital audio outputs.
