At least while testing you should use the -f parameter, it forces the (re)download of the epg, even when there is no change in the program info.

Could someone out there please post a copy of what your working updateEPG.bat and mc2xml.chl files look like? I would just like to compare them to mine to see if I can figure out what I am doing wrong, if anything.

Thank You!

I see someone else has posted theirs. I looked at it, and it looks like mine, so I won't post another set. I'd second the suggestion to use -f option during testing and make sure that the XML file it produces has a new date/time. Also, look look inside it to see if it has limited the number of channels. You may want to watch mc2xml as it runs to see if it's throwing any errors. Just open a cmd window and paste in your mc2xml commands with the desired options. Alternatively If you want to post your files, I'm sure someone will look them over.

Well, I don't have any success stories to report yet. I keep trying the suggestions posted here, and still haven't been able to reduce the size of my xml file. Just to repeat, when I run my updateEPG.bat file, mc2xml runs, but it doesn't seem to utilize the .chl file and I still end up with 93 channels instead of only getting the 11 I need. I have attached a screen capture that shows mc2xml running, my EPG directory which resides in the GBPVR folder, as well as the updateEPG.bat and mc2xml.chl files. Let me know if you see anything wrong with any of them. In the mean time, I am going to see if I can have any success with the -f command. Thanks.

If it's any help, I tried your .chl and your bat file. I got only the channels requested. I checked by looking in the XML output file. The only difference was that I used the -D set dat filename and -o set output file options (so I wouldn't overwrite my own) and requested data for my area, not yours (I wasn't sure where you're located.)

dennit, thanks for trying my settings. I tried to use it like you did, with the -D and -o settings. It put together a new xml file, but it looks exactly the same as my other one. I am really stumped here. Does this mean that I am not implementing everything correctly? Does it mean that Zap2it is sending a strangely formatted xml file and that I am not specifying the channels correctly? Is there any way to tell if mc2xml is attempting to use the .chl file? At least that would let me know that it is making the attempt and then I could work on the format of the contents until it gets what I want. I guess I will stop beating you guys up with my posts on this matter. Thanks for all of your help.

I noticed that my mc2xml.exe is older - that shouldn't be it, but who knows. Also, try another country, location to see if it uses the .chl file. If you want my older mc2xml.exe, PM me. If you want me to try your country settings, let me know what they are.

I think I know what went wrong. Your mc2xml.chl is listed as a textfile in your explorer window, that means the actual filename is: mc2xml.chl.txt. You must have the Windows setting enabled that hides "known extensions" (translation is mine). You should change the filename to: mc2xml.chl. Next time you save this file in notepad you have to chose: save as "all files" in stead of "text file"
Hope this helps.

Thanks! I'll give it a try!
(Edit)
Success! HtV found what I was missing. I saw that it was a text file, but it didn't really click because my file name still showed as .chl. Now when I run the updateEPG.bat, it lets me know that it is reading the .chl file and it only wrote 11 channels into the xml file like I wanted. Thanks again, hopefully this will help someone else out. How if someone can help me rename my channels in the .db3 database, I will be happy!
