TS files contain a video stream in MPEG formt. On the Misc2 tab of config, you can set the BDA multiplexor ... I think that choosing Cyberlink or Mainconcept will cause recording to be in .MPG files... BUT you will need to install the corresponding .AX file. Some possibly obsolete info ...

I don't got satellite so no HD for me. There is a stunt to get ITV-HD working but it passed me by ... try a forun search or post with ITV-HD in the thread title.

Hi Graham

Found a file SCAN-1.cache that seems to have the channel data in it so I probably just have to edit a line to get ITV-HD to work - fingers crossed.

The HD ts data stream as H.264
I have a friend that missed an ITV show that was only repeated on ITV-HD and while I can send the ts file through OJOsoft videoconverter to a .avi and then re-sync the audio that slips about 1.12 seconds out in the process and then convert that avi to mpeg2 and then burn that file to DVD for them it would be nice if GB-PVR just got me to a decent mpeg file directly !

Cheers for the help

If you're using H.264, then you're always going to get a .ts file, since a .mpg container file cant be used for H.264 video.

Digital recordings to .ts files are exact copy of what the broadcaster transmitted. If you're getting any audio sync issues when you convert it to a different file type, then its really just a fault in the video converter you're using, and there isnt really anything GB-PVR can do about it.

Hi sub

Thanks for the clarification on the H.264 front - kinda thought that might be the case.

Yes converter problems - all the converters I have used seem to have some problem - either audio sync or video shearing because they get the wrong fields interlaced together, or both !

Thanks for the help - I seem to have GB-PVR working and just have to do lots more reading and tweaking

Cheers

The tuning data that is used when recording is in the source_channel_mapping table in the gbpvr.db3 sqlite database file. The channel mapping process in config "copies" tuning data from the cache files to the database.

Hi Graham

Thanks for the info - should mean my hach of re-writing the ITV-HD line in the cache then re-mapping should work !

Tried out Birtles XMLTV GUI Grabber but must be doing something wrong (again) I just get

Quote:10:48:21 - Starting pass 1 of grabber UK_RT
10:48:21 - Please note that all data downloaded with this grabber is copyright of the Radio Times website (http://www.radiotimes.com) and the use of the data is restricted to personal use only. Also be aware that this service may not remain free and in future may become a paid-for service
10:48:21 - Clearing cache
10:48:21 - Finished pass 1 of grabber UK_RT
10:48:21 - 0 programs found
10:48:21 - Combining Grabber Programs
10:48:21 - Finished Combining Grabber Programs
10:48:21 - Writing XML
10:48:21 - No programs found, aborting xml writing

I seem to have missed something probably to do with channel setup ! But I can't find it ! ! !

Cheers in ignorance

Hi

OK so I re-installed everything and got it all working with the epg stuff as above.

Everything seems mostly fine but there are still a few wrinkles . . .

1. SD Channel tuned in with picture and sound but when I record it the audio is missing from the playback. Silent if run through my OJO converter to mpeg2 but there is sound when played back (original ts file) using WinMedia player ? Strange ! ! !

Any ideas on this ?

Also does the auto convert work ? I recorded a test prog or 2 (with no sound of course) but thay never seem to be converted ? I will try adding a mux so that recordings are made straight to mpeg2 ( i think thats the idea ) and see what happens then ?

Cheers

I'm sure there will be audio in the recording. If you dont hear audio in GB-PVR when you play it back, then it'll just be because of the audio decoder you have selected.

If you dont get audio in some other play, then it'll be similar problem, like Windows choosing a bad audio decoder. Sorry, but solving playback issues in other programs is outside the scope of what I try to support.

There is some known problems with the auto conversion feature, like not working with .ts files. I havent used this feature myself for years, so doesnt really get much attention.
