Thanks

k, you will have to ask sub. I want him to make a simple change that would eliminate the need for this option altogether and I figure if he has to respond to these unnecessary questions it would help.

One thing I have notice when using NPVR is if I restart the recordingservice while the NMT is still in use I end up with a black screen on the NMT & the only way I have found to get it going again is a power unplug reboot, I have never had this when using GB-PVR & restarting the recordingservice while it is connected & being used?

Nothing has changed at all in mvpmcx2 on a socket drop, but stopping NRecord doesn't always kill NextPVR, so you often have have to do this manually.

Using 1.5.24 is recommended for use with mvpmcx2 If you don't use NMTInstall2 to do your updates, you will need to change config.xml to use this setting

<StartPortControl>5916</StartPortControl>

This replaces the need to use --em-npvr on the command line, sub was able to get the change into this build. NPVR and GB-PVR can use the same client

I'd guess 75% of the time I inadvertently restart the GBPVR recording service the PCH hangs solid needing a powercycle.
(not got far enough to comment on n-pvr).

I am not surprised there is no clean exit mechanism from *PVR telling this. It will depend on the data that is being send whether things are quiet or not.

So I have just been lucky in the past then? The only thing I know is it will always be sitting at the screensaver when I do the recordingservice restart as I only do it when there is only me at home......I do value my life Wink

I have pretty good success too Jaggy it returns much more then it fails. In NPVR you will often need to kill NextPVR though.

I wasn't raising it as a problem as it is a stupid thing to do anyway (but I'm like that), just mentioned it to say that in my case, n-pvr was not a new cause of lockups for this reason.

(I seem to do it when remotely logged into the gbpvr box and restart the recording service on a different machine to what I think I am talking to!!).
